Call Forwarding

Call Forwarding lets you transfer your incoming calls automatically to any other telephone you can dial within the continental U.S.A. without the assistance of an operator.

To Forward Calls
First, listen for dial tone, Dial 7 2 #. Then, when you hear a second dial tone, dial the number where you want to forward your calls. Dial # again. When the number you call is answered. your Call Forwarding Service is activated.

If you receive a busy signal, or there is no answer, hang up and repeat the above directions again! Two short tones indicate that your call forwarding has been activated.

To Cancel Forwarding
Dial 73. Listen for two short tones plus dial tone. Call Forwarding is cancelled.

Some Things to Remember
Call Forwarding continues until you cancel it from your telephone.

You can still make outgoing calls from your telephone while Call Forwarding is established.

A short ring will be heard whenever your number is called to remind you your telephone calls are forwarded. You cannot answer these calls.

If other persons use your telephone. let them know when incoming calls are being forwarded - especially if they are expecting an important call.

Don't forget to tell the person who will receive your calls that you are using Call Forwarding-especially if you will not be where your calls will be forwarded.

You pay applicable charges, if any. for calls forwarded from your telephone.

Three-Way Calling

This service lets you add a third person to your conversation.

To Add a Third Person to Your Conversation
Press the switchhook once, firmly (1/2 second), and release immediately. This puts the original call on "hold".

Listen for three short tones, then a dial tone.

Dial the telephone number of the third person to be added. After the third person answers, you may talk with that person before returning to the original call.

To return the original caller to the line and complete the three-way conversation, press the switchhook once, firmly, (1/2 second), and release immediately.

NOTE: If the line is busy or doesn't answer, cancel the three-way call by pressing the switchhook once. Continue the original conversation or try again.

To Remove Either Person from the Conversation
The original called party just hangs up to disconnect.

The third person is removed by your pressing the switchhook once and releasing it immediately, or by the third person simply hanging up.

All three connections are automatically disconnected when you hang up.

To Add a Different Person
Perform a "remove" step. Then repeat the first four steps.

Speed Calling

Speed calling provides one or two-digit codes for up to 8 or 30 of the telephone numbers you call most. You can dial both local and long distance calls with Speed Calling.

To Add or Change a Speed Call - Code Number:
Programming Your 8 Code Speed Calling:
First, listen for a dial tone, then dial 7 4 # . Next, listen for a second dial tone. Now dial a one digit code for each number (2 through 8), followed by the telephone number you wish to assign to that code. Two short tones indicate the number has been stored.

Programming Your 30 Code Speed Calling:
First, listen for dial tone, then dial 7 5 #. Next, listen for a second dial tone. Now dial a two digit code for each number (20 through 49), followed by the telephone number you wish to assign to that code. Two short tones indicate the number has been stored.

Call Waiting

This service lets you answer a second call while you are using your telephone.

How It Works:
When you are using your telephone. when someone else calls you will hear a brief tone signal. The person with whom you are talking will hear a slight click. Ten seconds later you will hear a reminder tone. The incoming caller only hears the usual ringing signal.

To Answer the Second Call
If you wish to end the first call, hang up. Your phone will ring and the second (incoming) caller will be on the line. If you want to hold the first call while answering the second call, press the switchhook once, firmly (I/2 second), and release it immediately. You will be connected with the other person on your line. (Use the recall button on Trimline@ models.)

Returning to the First Call
To return to the first call, simply press the switchhook once, firmly, ( 1/2 second), and release it immediately. With this method, you can switch between the two calls as frequently as you wish.

How to End Either Conversation
After you have finished talking with either caller. hang up. Your phone will ring and when you answer you will be connected with the person remaining on the line.

Saved Number Redial

To Save a Number When Busy or No Answer
First, hang up the telephone. Then, pick up the handset and listen for a dial tone. Next. press the switchhook (the button that hangs up the phone) for one second. Then dial 7 6 #. A tone indicates that the number has been saved.

To Save a Number During a Call
First, press the switchhook for one second. Then dial 7 6 # , a tone indicates that the last number you called has been saved. You are automatically returned to your caller!

To Call a Saved Number
First. listen for dial tone. then dial 77 #. Your call will automatically be placed to the saved number!

Calling Features

Teen Lines

A second directory number that rings at your house. It requires no additional wiring at your location. For example: your phone number is 659-0000. your teen line is 659-1111. Calls to your number ring with the same ring as they do now. Calls to your teen line ring with a distinctive two short. one long ring. Teen lines are great for families with children. or who require call screening.

Speed Calling - 30 Number

What It Does:
Allows you to establish a list of 30 numbers that can be called by dialing a two-digit code.

How It Works:
Dial 75# to program and listen for the dial tone. Press the two-digit (20- 49) code followed by the phone number. Two tone bursts indicate that the number is recorded. Follow this procedure to enter up to 30 numbers. To use, dial the two-digit (20-49) code and press #.

Teen Ringing

What It Does:
Connects two telephone numbers to a single party line, each having a unique ringing pattern.

How It Works:
Great for families with teenagers or for home businesses who want a separate number for home and for business. If you have Call Waiting, one beep indicates a call for your primary number and two short beeps indicate a call for your secondary number.

Telemarketer Call Screening

What It Does:
Intercepts calls that are delivered to your phone as "out of area" or "unknown" and announces that you do not accept calls from telemarketers. It also instructs telemarketers to add your name to their "Do Not Call" list. Your phone won't even ring.

How It Works:
Intercepted callers who are not telemarketers are instructed to dial or to stay on the line to be connected. Other calls are delivered in the normal manner.

Three-Way Calling

What It Does:
Allows you to carry on a three-way conversation with parties at two other locations.

How It Works:
During your initial call, depress the hookswitch for one second to put Person A on hold. Listen for a short tone burst, followed by a. dial tone. Dial the number of Person B. When Person B answers, depress the hookswitch for one second to get Person A back on the line. If Person B does not answer, depress and release the hookswitch twice, each time for one second, to return to Person A and release the second call.

Toll Control With Pin

What It Does:
Blocks all outgoing 1 + calls from your phone unless a four-digit PIN number which you select is entered. Local calls can also be blocked if you wish. (911 is never blocked.) You can select up to ten phone numbers that can be dialed without being blocked.

How It Works:
You dial the number you wish to call. A recording will tell you that the number can't be dialed from this phone. Enter your four-digit PIN and the call goes through.

Voice Mail

(Includes "Call Forward Don't Answer" and "Call Forward Busy" calling features)

What It Does:
Allows you to receive messages whether your phone is busy or goes unanswered.

How It Works:
Detailed instructions are available when you sign up for this feature. Does not require the purchase of any additional equipment.

Caller ID - Name and Number

What It Does:
Displays the name, number, time and date of an incoming call.

How It Works:
Requires the separate purchase of a Caller ID device with name and number display capabilities.

Caller ID - Call Waiting

What It Does:
Displays the name, number, time and date of an incoming call both in the regular manner and when you receive the Call Waiting tone.

How It Works:
Requires the separate purchase of a Caller ID device with name, number. and Call Waiting display capabilities. You must also subscribe to Call Waiting.

Caller ID Blocking

What It Does:
Prevents delivery of your name and number to Caller ID devices. Provided free of charge to all members.

How It Works:
Dial *67 to activate and listen for the verification tone followed by a dial tone. This sequence must be repeated with every call for blocking to be in effect.

Selective Call Acceptance

What It Does:
Allows only calls from a list of numbers you specify to ring through. All other calls will be routed to an announcement and rejected.

How It Works:
Dial *64 and follow the instructions.

Selective Call Forwarding

What It Does:
Allows only calls from a list. of numbers you specify to be forwarded to another telephone number.

How It Works:
Dial *63 and follow the instructions .

Selective Call Rejection

What It Does:
Reroutes calls from a defined list of numbers to an announcement and rejects them. All other calls are allowed to ring through.

How It Works:
Dial *60 and follow the instructions.

Automatic Call Back

What It Does:
Continues to try to complete a call to the last number dialed. regardless of whether the original call was answered, unanswered. or busy. The system monitors the call and tries to connect for up to 30 minutes.

How It Works:
Dial *66 to activate and wait for normal ringing or, if the line is busy, a recorded announcement. Dial *86 to deactivate and listen for recording that indicates your request has been canceled.

Automatic Recall

What It Does:
Announces the number of the last incoming call via recorded voice and automatically recalls the number if desired. Must be activated before another incoming call is received. Will also identify an ignored Call Waiting beep.

How It Works:
Dial *69 to activate and listen for an announcement indicating either: I) the number of the last incoming call. as well as the time and date of the call OR 2) that the number cannot be tracked. Dial *89 to deactivate.

Cancel Call Waiting

(Included with call waiting)

What It Does:
Turns off Call Waiting for the duration of an individual phone call. Useful to prevent interruption of data transmittal while on the Internet or using a fax machine.

How It Works:
Dial 70# to activate before placing a call and listen for a special tone which verifies that Call Waiting has been canceled. When you disconnect your call, Call Waiting is automatically reactivated

Call Forwarding

What It Does:
Forwards calls to another specified phone number, even a cellular phone.

How It Works:
Dial 72# to activate and listen for the dial tone. Enter number where you want your calls forwarded. If no answer, depress hookswitch and repeat the complete sequence. Two short tones tell you that the feature is working. Dial 73# to deactivate and wait for two bursts of tone.

Caller ID - Number Only

What It Does:
Displays the number. time and date of an incoming call.

How It Works:
Requires the separate purchase of a Caller ID device.

For Your Information

Star (*) and Pound (#) Keys:
Many of the calling features require the use of either the star (*) or the pound (#) key. These keys are located on the bottom row of your touch pad on either side of the O (OPER) key.

Hook switch:
The button that disconnects your call when you hang up the receiver. Whenever you are instructed to depress the hookswitch in the application of a calling feature. hold it down for just one second. Some phones will have a "Flash" button that performs the same function as the hookswitch.
